When Looking for Cheaper Car Insurance Start by Asking Your Insurance Company

Anyone would be excited to lower their insurance premium, right? It’s surprising how many people will call several insurance agencies looking for the best deal. Don’t get me wrong, that is perfectly fine, especially if you’re shopping for new insurance. However, if you currently have an insurance provider then why not start by asking your insurance agency how they can help you save money on your current policy? There are several ways to save on insurance premiums and your agent will be able to tell you what you can do or what you already qualify for that you may not be taking advantage of.

I realize that most people are looking for “cheap car insurance,” but please note that I said “cheaper” in the title of this article. Cheap car insurance is a pretty relative term and I think most people are looking for almost free. Free isn’t realistic but lowering your current premium is.

The first thing you should do is find out if you can bundle your different types of insurance coverages to save money. If you have home owners or renters insurance plus car insurance through the same agency you probably qualify for a discount automatically. You probably can qualify for a better car insurance rate if you have multiple cars as well. If your agency isn’t offering up discounts keep asking about different scenarios such as: do you have safe driver discounts, discounts for safety features in my vehicle like antilock brakes or airbags, and discounts for students or age.

If you’re looking to achieve bigger discounts then you should make sure that your car insurance policy doesnt have anything that you dont want or need. An example would be additional coverage for a car stereo or windshield protection. If you don’t really need these things have them removed from your policy and have the cost deducted from your account.

Many insurance agencies also offer discounts on the way you pay your premium. You can often get discounts by paying premiums in full or by signing up for an automatic deduction plan. Again, ask your insurance agency if this is something that they could provide.

If you are in desperate need of reducing your monthly premium pretty dramatically then the last thing you should look into is changing your deductible. This is pretty straight forward, the higher the deductible the lower your premium. You should make sure that if you do have to pay a higher deductible for your car insurance that it won’t leave you in a pinch with funds.

Calling different insurance agencies for a quote is fine if you really feel like you’re paying too much, but start by asking your current agent what they can do for you.

The Number Of Fraudulent fronting Cases Rises Amongst Car Insurance Claims

It has been revealed that the practice of fronting has climbed dramatically over the last two years according to a recently published report. The rise in the number of cases where parents insure their childs car in their own name to try to keep costs down, but in fact, the child is the main driver of the vehicle, is seen by law as a fraudulent act of deceiving the insurer.

Fronting has now become a major car insurance fraud problem, but the report is set to uncover that this and other schemes of submitting falsified information by consumers has increased by 30 per cent since 2007.

These deceitful claims are now costing the insurance industry billions of euros each year and are set to continue to rise. It is thought that the crackdown on insurance cheats when they are making a claim has actually led to this climb in fraud, but the industry is determined to attack these figures too.

One insurance expert said, “Through closer scrutiny of proposal forms and claims, as well as the exchange of information through industry-wide databases, the net is tightening on the cheats. Anyone who sees insurance as a soft touch can end up with a criminal record, credit problems and costlier and harder-to-obtain insurance.”

Although fronting is classed as a fraudulent act, many parents are unaware it is a criminal offence and carry out the practice in blissful ignorance, but industry bosses are appealing to parents to avoid the exercise as it may result in severe consequences.

The reality is that if fronting is detected when a claim is made, insurers can refuse to pay out for any claims or can settle a third party claim and recover the cost from the parent as the policyholder. However, if the insurance company denies the claim, the young driver can be treated as an uninsured motorist and face a large fine and even penalty points on their license. They are also likely to face higher insurance premiums in the future.

The report has also highlighted an increase in walk away claims which involve the insurer being suspicious of possible fraud, so will ask for further details from the claimant, at which point the claimant no longer pursues the claim. Although this is not confirmation a fraudulent claim has been attempted, the insurance industry believe it is a likely indicator of such behaviour.

Classic Duesenberg Ride

The first Dursenberg sports car was built by two self taught German born engineers in 1913 using the Duesenberg Automobile & company Inc brand name in Des Moines, Iowa USA. This hand built cars were in the league of the most desirable sports cars when they were introduced. In fact, the Dursenberg car won a number of races that includes the Indianapolis 500 and the French grand prix between 1921 and 1927. Even though this classic car model was a marvel during its hay days, it failed the mass production test because the company had no profitable sales volume so it became bankrupt and closed up.

The classic Dursenberg was later bought out by Auburn Automobile Company among many others who used the advanced Dursenberg Brothers engineering know how to produce several luxury sport cars using the Dursenberg brand name. The model J was the first Dursenberg luxury car design to be rolled out after it was bought out. It was released during the 1928 New York car show. This vehicle model had all the markings of a high-end luxury sports car. It boasted of unheard top speeds of 119 miles per hour with high gear acceleration rates that could shoot to 94 mph when moved to gear two. Beside that, it had a supercharged 256 horsepower engine that supported eight straight dual camshaft overheads.

However, while the engine work was done by Dursenberg all the bodywork was subcontracted to specialized car chassis builders form North America and Europe who gave the Dursenberg luxury car its elegant finish. The chassis value when adjusted for time plus inflation in 2004 went for 8500 dollars with the complete model going for 13000 dollars. However, users had to get a top of the range Duesenberg model for $20,000. Between 1913 and 1927, before the original company went bankrupt, the Duesenberg luxury sports car brand manufacturers presented model A and X. But after Cord Corporation bought it out in 1929, it released sports cars under the model J series until 1937 when they started getting fazed out of the market gradually.

Another notable achievement in the history of this classic high-end luxury car was in 1932 when the Duesenberg SJ model was launched. A three hundred and twenty five supercharged horsepower engine that could achieve high speeds of close to one hundred and thirty five miles per hour powered this classic sports car. With this new sports car edition, the Duesenberg vehicle became a household name across America among the rich and famous. Some of the most prominent individuals of that era who are known to have owned or driven the Duesenberg SJ model include the Duke of Windsor and Clark Gable.

However, this success story of Duesenberg did not last beyond 1937. This is largely because production of this luxury car ceased when the business empire of their new owners was burst with the worldwide economic depression of 1930s. Currently, only 481 Duesenberg model J and SJ can still be traced with auction values of $2 million and beyond.
